Hydrogen fuel stations are no dream
Back in 2022 when we were starting up Gold Hydrogen, it was easy to picture what success could look like – perhaps a network of hydrogen fuel stations feeding cars and trucks a near carbon-free energy source supplied by us.
Natural Hydrogen explorers like Gold Hydrogen continue to seek that breakthrough to commercialise the gas we have found underground. And our next series of flow tests at Ramsay 3 in South Australia next week will give us more detail on our hydrogen play.
But while we await those results, it’s heartening to see that the hydrogen fuel station dream is slowly becoming a reality.
Japan is probably the leader in this space. A friend recently snapped a picture of a hydrogen fuelling station in Tokyo, one of 52 the company Iwatani operates there. Overall, media is reporting the country is up to more than 140 hydrogen fuelling stations.

That’s a great start – this thing has momentum. It’s certainly a much bigger start than many in this part of the world will be aware. Any network has to start somewhere.
With companies like Toyota, one of our strategic partners, putting so much time and resource in to developing hydrogen-powered vehicles, there’s little doubt the technology is coming. All we need is a reliable and cheap supply of hydrogen.
It’s why we continue to be so buoyant about our potential.
The Ramsay 3 flow tests start in the next few days. If you saw our ASX release yesterday, you’ll be aware we are already happy by what we are seeing in set-up tests.
The larger 7-inch cased, cemented and perforated Ramsay 3 well design seems capable of delivering substantially increased inflow capacity and we see strong potential for flow rates exceeding 20,000 bbl/day under optimised operating conditions.
See the full ASX release here.
Meanwhile, it’s encouraging to see the reaction from independent analysts like Hannam and Partners to the testing so far done at Ramsay 1 and 2, which focussed on Helium.
Clearly they believe we have taken substantial steps in de-risking our project.
We encourage investors and interested parties to read one of their latest reports, which came out in the last week.
You’ll need to be registered on their website to read it, which you can do in a minute for free, and it’s worth the effort. Here’s the link. (If you are registering for the first time, you may need to search Gold Hydrogen in their search field once logged in. Look for the September 7 report).
We’ll be back in touch with initial Ramsay 3 results when they come through.
